The Men’s Collection Autumn Winter 2010-2011 by Tim Van Steenbergen is designed in the motion of sculptor painter Lucio Fontana.
He is the one who challenged the history of painting. With one bold stroke he pierces the canvas and tears it to shreds. By this action he declares the canvas no longer to be a pictorial vehicle.
Keeping this ideology in mind the Men’s Collection is built up out of slashed front panels and frayed figures. The energy of the actions of Fontana translated into the collection as a geometric pattern playing with lines, cording, zippers and detailed raw cut finishings.
By combining different materials the silhouettes come alive in a new urban look.
The fabrics used, creating a variety of textures, are jacquard cotton, stretch and stonewashed leather, ribbed jersey, waxed cotton wool, crêpe wool, leather look, corduroy and tweed. Colours are sober and go from grey over blue to black, desert dust and petrol green. High ended details underline the authenticity of artisanship, well known as the trademark of Tim Van Steenbergen.
This collection consists of diverse classic and baggy pants, home pants, washed chemises and ribbed shirts. A tailor cut blazer with comfortable jersey details and for rainy days a highly finished parka with fur on the hood. A variety of sweaters and knit designs that match yarn and fabric. As well as a perfecto zip up biker. Over gloves and turtle shawls as accessories.
A series of luxurious sunglasses Theo by Tim Van Steenbergen and a series of shoes Tim Van Steenbergen – handmade by Ambiorix both complete this new Men’s Collection.
“By the time I get to Phoenix she’ll be rising
She’ll find the note I left hangin’ on her door
She’ll laugh when she reads the part that says I’m leavin’
‘Cause I’ve left that girl so many times before”
